I’ve been lurking around this forum for a while, and I’ve noticed that most discussions about car rust repair tend to focus on short-term fixes, like quick touch-ups or applying rust converters. But I wonder if we are focusing too much on the surface and not enough on the root cause.
Here’s what I’m puzzled about: why do we keep opting for these temporary solutions instead of delving deeper? Isn’t there a more effective method to address rust that would prevent it from recurring, maybe even eliminate it for good? Are there advanced techniques, possibly involving technology or materials science, that can provide a more permanent solution?
Also, what’s the real effectiveness of commercial rust-proofing treatments that some manufacturers offer as a premium? Do they actually make a significant difference over the lifespan of a car, or are we just being sold another redundant service? I think it’s time we reassess how we approach rust repair and develop some new insights, backed by genuine experiences or even data, to share with this community. Thoughts?
