Has anyone tried combining a basic ECU tune with a midstream cold air intake on a late-model car without causing reliability issues? I’m thinking about a couple of modifications that promise noticeable performance gains while keeping the setup relatively simple and budget-friendly. My goal is to get a bit more power and improved throttle response without going full forced induction.
I’m debating between spending a bit more on a high-quality ECU tune versus adding some bolt-on mods like headers and a exhaust system. For those who took a similar path, what kind of power increase did you see from the individual mods? Also, did you or anyone else notice a tradeoff in drivability or fuel economy that might make me rethink the sequence of modifications?
Any insights on the best order for these mods, or alternative upgrades that might offer smoother performance improvements? Also interested in hearing about any unexpected challenges you encountered during installation or tuning. Thanks in advance!
